Resume & Bio

The Big Picture

I enjoy problem solving and learning new things. I am the most excited about what I am doing when all the creative and innovative juices are flowing. Fortunately, I have been blessed with the opportunity in my career to wade into many a problem across a large number of positions within several companies of various sizes.

This has given me a unique and valuable perspective from which to tackle new opportunities.

As a strategy, planning, and operations manager, I learned that good information, processes and procedures are a monumental waste without well motivated and enthusiastic people who love what they do. They are the soil from which great companies grow!

As a product, solution and market segment manager I gained valuable experience in how to collaborate with and motivate teams dispersed around the globe. I learned that the hard part – and the most important part – is not the strategy, analysis, or even product/solution development and testing. It’s delighting the customer by exceeding their expectations on all fronts – features, function, reliability, customer services. Then delighting them again!

As a program manager establishing third party relationships and managing IT services engagements, I learned the value of relying on and leveraging quality partners so that the whole turned out to be greater than the sum of the parts.

As a consultant and industry expert I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve and help people where it matters most to them. People from all walks of life, in companies great and small, within strategic industries such as Banking and Financial Markets, Healthcare and Insurance, K through 12 and Higher Education, Telecommunications and Utilities, Manufacturing and Distribution, and Media and Entertainment.

As a marketer and salesman, I honed my skills in uncovering the true need rather than the felt need – being customer focused versus customer driven. And learning that “It’s not about me”.

As an educator, corporate trainer, and executive briefer, I discovered how to find the key that turned the light bulb on in the minds and hearts of my audience.

As a hardware and electronics technician, and systems engineer for large enterprise IT solutions, I learned firsthand the value of a well-planned, developed, and tested solution. I learned the valuable lesson that the pain of poor quality lingers long after the launch party.

As the co-founder and president of a not-for-profit organization tasked with helping single mothers and their families move from dependency to self-sufficiency, I learned more than I could have ever imagined about human nature, and what is truly important in life.

What could be better than that?

I have been with the big boys like IBM and Siemens, medium size software companies and communication service providers, and start up education and marketing companies.

My specialties are the systems, processes and workflow that create, manage, distribute, and present internal and external communications, and that help manage the relationship with the customer. No other area is more strategic, and more complex.
